Windsor to Dorney. 2nd March 2008 - Report by Margaret

We all met at Windsor Central Station, most having taken the train from Ealing Broadway. A good frequent schedule even on a Sunday, full of visitors to Windsor.  We walked from the station, along Windsor High Street to get to the River Thames.  It was a chilly day but dry.  The walk along the River Thames was delightful, passing by the grand houses on its banks and along the footpath to Boveney Lock. We came across the pretty 13th century St Mary Magadelene's church which is at present being restored. We walked on to Bray Lock, passing the olympic rowing lake. We stopped for lunch at The Pineapple pub in Dorney, renowned for its massive sandwiches providing around 1000 different combinations, served with a bowl of soup, salad or chips.  Definitly a meal in itself.

After lunch we walked back along the Jubilee River, the man made flood defence system. We walked through Eton , passing the Eton public school buildings and then back to Windsor in time for a tea/coffee stop before catching the 5.05 p.m. train back home.
