We started the walk from the church in the tiny picturesque village of Alderham, just a bit east of Watford. We were fortunate with the weather, being mild and sunny. Jim, our walk leader, took us along a scenic route through fields and woods. We made a stop at The Gate Pub near Bricket Wood. The pub was well organised, quick service and good food. Some of the more hardier of us sat under the marquee in the garden, while the others warmed themselves next to the pub's roaring open fire, After lunch we made our way to Otterspool - There was a large pool of water, hence the name, surrounded by a field of sheep. A beautiful countryside spot, - ideal for picnics in the summer, well worth the walk. We finished at 3.30 pm and were well in time for tea at home.
